IT is totally applied at The State Records and Archives Department of Vietnam

Since its foundation in 1945 as “the National Library and Archives Department”, Vietnam State Records and Archives Department has specialised in managing national records and archives. So far three national archives centers under The State Records and Archives Department have collected a 30-kilometer shelf of documents of national level. The document body continues to increase as the Department receives various resources stored for 2-3 years from different achieves bodies every year. In order to facilitate access such a huge number of records and archives, the best solution is required while manual work is, unfortunately, common.
Realizing the importance of information technology application to archives management, since 2004 The State Records and Archives Department has entered the parnership with Tinhvan Company to produce 10 solfware items for archives management by The State Records and Archives Department and its subsidiaries including such important items as management and utilization of records and archives, current records, scientific works, international cooperation, e-information porter and content administration, etc… Among them the most important is the solfware for archives management and utilization. It can meet all requirements from records tranfer between archieves bodies and the Department, old records re-check, records clasification to records preservation and storage. It also satisfies the needs to classify confidential records which are subject to access in no time with others in only a certain number of years.
The State Records and Archives Department officially signed a minute to approve this project in late December, 2006. The Department is composed of three centers: The Records and Archieves Center I, located in Hanoi, specialising in storing records of State management agencies; The Center II in Ho Chi Minh city, in charge of records of old regime in South Vietnam during Vietnam war and The Center III, responsible for records of French-colonial and feudal days. The software item is currently being administered in all the Centres.
